The Feldenkrais Method aims to improve human function and self image, through the exploration of small, comfortable movements that translate to large changes in mobility and comfort. Common benefits include increased relaxation, improved posture, flexibility and breathing, and pain relief. It can help to change your habit patterns on horse and off, giving you more balance and stability in the saddle.

Dorothy is an accredited Ride With Your Mind Coach, who has trained with Philippe Karl (PK) in his School of Legerete (Lightness).

Dorothy has been working with Mary Wanless for over 20 years and she qualified as a human Chiropractor, although these days she only works with horses.

Her special interests include saddle fitting and she trained with Philippe Karl in his School of Legerte for 5 years.

Rebecca Webley (Becky), Groom, joined OEC in February 2012.

Becky has completed her Horse Care with Riding City & Guilds Level 1 with us.

Becky enjoys hacking the school horses.

I was horse mad from a very young age. My first horse, Tia Maria, and I competed quite successfully, showing, show jumping and eventing until the mid-1980s. I have owned, started and schooled many horses, and have been an instructor since 1979. However, my life was dominated by unspecified back and hip pain from the age of 10; chiropractic, physiotherapy and painkillers could only do so much.

In 2000 I started learning about rider biomechanics and the Feldenkrais Method. I soon realised that the more I understood my body, the more my riding improved, and the less pain I experienced.

Today, I live a very active life indeed, mostly free from pain.
This has inspired me to help others by combining my Feldenkrais teaching skills with rider biomechanics training in my work with equestrians to improve their equestrian performance.

I love working with all skill levels, young children starting to ride (what a great time to learn good basics), adult beginners, returners and more experienced, through to dressage and eventing riders competing at international levels.

Josh Harris, Groom, joined OEC in February 2016.

Father of 3 boys, Josh has ridden since he was 12.

When with us he spends more time with the horsepower of the tractor and quad bike, but does enjoy the occasional hack out.
