All his training has been with Karin at Overdale:

  • Farrier: 7th Nov 2012
  • Bridle: 12th Nov 2012
  • First saddle: 14th Nov 2012
  • Dentist: 27th Nov 2012
  • Saddle fit check:
  • 2nd Dec 2012
  • First bareback mount in stall: 4th Jan 2013
  • First mount in arena with tack: 8th Jan 2013

Jack has been trained using Equine Learning Theory principles, alongside the work of Phillipe Karl School of Légèreté.

Jack is very steady and reliable. His mottos in life are ‘conserve energy’ and ‘ifin doubt stop’. This makes him an ideal ride for novices. However, he is no plod, and has plenty to teach the more advanced riders. Excessive use of the reins is highly counter-productive. Canter right has been tricky for him, but this is improving with work.

“Karin, thank you so much for teaching me how to ride. Having spent 30 years and thousands of pounds on lessons, being confused and never feeling in control, i.e. always anxious and not really enjoying riding.

I found you and after only a handful of lessons, where you’ve explained everything so clearly and identified several reasons why I haven’t been in control.

Today’s lesson was great and I feel for the first time in my life that I’m riding, more in control and loving it… if only I’d found you all those years ago.

Now back to my breathing and my riding hat!”Louise
